HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO….. ME!

I hate to admit it, but today is my 39th birthday.  (I started counting when I was

twenty!)  Accordingly, I am offering 500 autographed copies of THE PRESLEY PLOT

to the first person who can correctly state the names of the other 3 famous and

talented Americans who were born today.  (No cheating!)  Naturally, you will be

obliged to purchase said books on Amazon.com (hopefully at the end of June)

BUT…..  the autographs are free!

Now for some fascinating news about…..  ELVIS PRESLEY!

When the King was found dead in his Graceland mansion in August, 1977,

he was first interred in a crypt in Memphis Cemetery (with his mother) but two

months later, both were reburied in Meditation Garden at Graceland.

So…..  Elvis Presley’s original crypt is now being auctioned off!  (No joke.)

The sale is being conducted by Julien’s Auctions of Beverly Hills, and the

bidding starts at…..  $100,000!

I hear they had to erect a fence around the crypt…..   people were dying to get in!

If you see me at the auction, don’t wave.  (They might think you’re bidding on the

crypt!)

Well, Elvis may have left the building, but the building is now for sale.

Good luck to all you bidders!

Fondly,

Doc Yanoff

P.S.   The answers to the quiz:  Patrick Henry, Bob Hope, JFK.

BIRTHDAY BASH!

No, it’s not Elvis Presley’s birthday, but…  MINE!    (The King was born on January

8, 1935)  In fact, if he had not passed away on August 16, 1977, he would be….

VERY OLD!)  Somewhere around 77 years of age!

Actually, it’s not even my birthday, which is officially celebrated in 10 southern states, two foreign countries, and the District of Slovakia, on May 29th.

Nevertheless, I will be celebrating my own birth today, and in so doing, I have sent

my mother a “congratulations card” for giving birth to me.  (Truthfully, what choice

did she have?)  Seriously though, this is an especially wonderful birthday thanks to

all my family and friends and the marvelous good luck I have recently experienced

with the publication of the (now) International Best-Seller…  THE PRESLEY PLOT!

AS A REMINDER TO MY LOYAL BLOG FOLLOWERS…..  Next week, in Tupelo,

(the birthplace of Elvis) the city fathers (and a couple of mothers) are holding their

annual ELVIS FESTIVAL!   (June 1, 2, and 3 are the main days.)  If you find yourself

or someone else anywhere near Tupelo, you should definitely check this out.  My book

will not be available in time for me to appear as a guest speaker or sign autographed

copies, but I do intend to visit Tupelo in mid-July.  I have some interesting publicity

events lined up and will post them as time draws near.

Please remember that there is still time to purchase a modest gift for your favorite

author!  (I have plenty of clothes, but I do need a new sports car…  preferably a pink

cadillac!)  Take care, all, and remember that this weekend is not about me, Elvis, or

anyone else except the brave men and women who serve and protect us in all

branches of the military.  Thank God we still have folks like them!

I salute them all….

THE (PRESLEY) PLOT THICKENS!

Good evening, fellow followers of fun fiction!

If you cast your gaze upward upon thy blog page you shall see a truly amazing sight!  The cover of my first mystery novel, THE PRESLEY PLOT, is now

officially completed and at the printer!  As I have stated previously, I think the good folks at Aberdeen Bay did a marvelous job, and I am most grateful

for their assistance.  The book cover (in my semi-humble opinion) came out perfect and captured the exact mood is was hoping to see on the front.

So far, we have over 450 book orders and the number keeps growing daily!

Just for the record…  the general public will not be able to purchase the book until it is officially listed on Amazon.com, which I am told, should be

on or about July 1st.  (Naturally, I will keep you informed of the situation as it progresses.)

In the meantime, I have some more wonderful news to share with you…  two different production agents/companies have already expressed an

interest in offering a “production option” on the book!  (Basically, they offer you a nice chunk of change for giving them the 1-year option of turning

your work into a movie.)  I have not made any commitments, nor do I intend to, until the book has a chance to reach the reading public and run

its course.  Time will tell where we end up, but it’s all good.  Especially since I have so many loyal fans anxious to support me….  and God knows

I am so grateful for that!

Well, time to go….  book three in the series (DEVIL’S  COVE) awaits!

If you get a moment, please drop me a line and let me know your thoughts on the cover!

Love to all,   Doc Yanoff.

ALWAYS JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!

Well, I just received the FINAL rendition of the book cover designed for THE

PRESLEY PLOT.  All I can say is…..  WOW!     Ms. Michelle did a marvelous job

and I am very grateful and very impressed.

And so…..  It’s off to the printer we go!

(I will post a copy of the book cover as soon as I receive permission from the

publisher.)

In the meantime, more exciting news about the ELVIS LEGACY….  Lisa Marie

(the big guy’s daughter) just released a new album entitled “Storm & Grace.”

The reviews have all been good.

SIDE BAR:  As most of you know, Elvis had a twin brother.  (Jesse Garon)  Well,

guess what?  Lisa Marie has twin daughters!  (Harper and Finley)  Coincidence?

I think not!

Anyways, Lisa Marie’s new album sounds very interesting, so if you get a chance,

buy a copy.  (Heaven knows she could use the money!)

Also, if you want to see her “live,” you can tune in the “TONIGHT SHOW” (May 21)

or “JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE,” (May 22)

Have a great day and let me hear from you!

A GREAT ‘COVER STORY’ …..

EXCITING NEWS!

The first book cover design for THE PRESLEY PLOT is now finished!  I am thrilled

to report that the artist did a wonderful job capturing the mood and the mystery of the

story.  In other words, the cover looks great!  (I will post a copy as soon as possible.)

Also exciting…  The Great American Steamboat Company (owner of the American

Queen, a Mississippi River paddle wheeler) has just announced that they will be

offering an ELVIS PRESLEY CRUISE (leaving from Memphis!) this coming

December.  Cabins are expected to sell out quickly, so if you’re interested, don’t

delay.  I have contacted the company and will hopefully be offered a book signing/

speaking engagement during the cruise.  Further details to follow!

Until we meet again…

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS…

Ah, but a painting is worth $37,000,000!  Well, not all paintings, but certainly some

of those painted by Andy Warhol…  Such as the one that recently sold at Sotheby’s in

New York City… Which is aptly entitled:  “DOUBLE ELVIS.”

True enough, a painting of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was recently sold at auction for a

breath-taking price of 37 million buckaroos!  The painting shows Elvis in a

“gunslinger” pose, pointing a pistol toward the viewer.  It was one of about 22

paintings Andy did of Elvis.  (If you recall, Mr. Warhol died in 1987, at 58 years of

age.  Sadly, he died from complications brought on from a routine gallbladder

surgery.)

Well, on a more positive note, you can see that the memory of Elvis (and all that he

represented) is still very much alive and well….  and as many of you know, the man

is selling more records now than when he was alive!    Thus, the beat goes on!

Until next time…    Doc  Yanoff

The Truth Shall Set Ye Free…

(So will a lenient judge!)

In any case, the truth of which I speak is this:  My San Antonio meeting (with the two

top honchos of Endurance Insurance Group) went quite well, but what I neglected to

mention in my last post is that they were very excited about the actual story told in

THE PRESLEY PLOT, and so they agreed over dinner (grilled quail and rib-eye steak!)

to purchase 300 copies of the book!  (They intend to give them out as gifts to their

employees and some clients)  Needless to say, I was struck speechless.  (No jokes,

please!)  I was so delirious that I almost picked up the check!  Thank God I came to my

senses in time!  But seriously, I was quite touched by their generosity and I am

exceedingly grateful for their support.  Have a safe and wonderful day!

Rollin’ On The River…..

Well, today should be quite interesting — both in a literary and literal sense…

Later this afternoon I shall be driving down to the Riverwalk in San Antonio, where

at dusk, I will be having dinner with the two Executive Vice-Presidents of the

Endurance Insurance Group.  (At Boudro’s on the river.)  I am happy to report that

they are thrilled by my “insurance-related mysteries” and have agreed to allow me full

access to their most bizarre claim-files!  (Which should keep me writing for the next

50 years or so!)  This would be the equivalent of allowing a researcher into the secret

vaults at the Vatican  (Think DaVinci Code) so….  I am very pleased and excited!

I shall, as they say in the cinema, keep you informed, so don’t touch that dial!

(Or, at the very least, come back soon.)

The Return of the Prodigious Son…

Good morning/afternoon buckaroos…

Several folks have asked about my recent trip, so here’s a brief rundown of where I went, what I spent, from this old gent…  Our main stops (sailing aboard the Zuiderdam) were Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao.  The water, reef, and diving conditions were simply ideal.  (Bonaire was the best)

We also made stops in the Panama Canal, Colon (a coastal city), and Puerto Limon,

Costa Rica.  (My favorite stop was the banana factory… which held “great appeal” for me personally.)

To answer one of your questions, YES, I wrote a lot during the voyage.  In fact, I knocked out 50 pages and put the finishing touches on book two, MURDER ON MAIDEN LANE.   Since the book deals with the discovery  (a real-life event) of Captain Kidd’s treasure, the environment (at sea) was perfect!

By the way, do you know who Captain Kidd’s favorite clothing designer was?

(ARRGH-MANI!)     LATER, GATORS.
